ThyWord is built with privacy at its core. Your prayers are deeply personal, and we believe they should stay that way. Every technical decision we make, from how we process your voice to how we communicate with AI services , is designed to ensure your privacy is never compromised. 1. How ThyWord's AI features work
When you pray aloud in ThyWord, your voice is captured and sent to our secure backend server. Our server transcribes your prayer, then rephrases and restructures the content into an anonymous system-level request before it is sent to any AI service. This request contains only the spiritual theme of your prayer — all personal context is removed before it leaves our server.
2. AI service providers
ThyWord uses the following third-party AI service providers to deliver its core features. Each provider acts as a data processor on our behalf and processes data solely for the purpose of delivering the requested functionality.
- OpenAI — Matches the intent and theme of your prayer with relevant Bible Scripture passages.
- Anthropic — Supports intelligent language processing to enhance the accuracy of Scripture responses.
- ElevenLabs — Generates natural-sounding audio readings of Scripture passages.
- Amazon Web Services (AWS) — Provides secure cloud infrastructure, hosting, and data storage.
- Cloudflare — Manages DNS and provides network security and performance optimization.
- These providers are contractually required to handle data in accordance with applicable privacy and data protection laws.
3. Your personal information is never shared
ThyWord does not transmit any personally identifiable information to any AI service provider. Our server anonymizes all content before any external communication occurs. No name, email address, account ID, device identifier, IP address, or personal metadata is ever included in any request sent to an AI provider. There is no direct link between you and the data these services receive.
We do not use AI providers to sell user data, profile users for advertising, or build marketing datasets.
4. Your prayers are not stored or used for training
ThyWord does not store your prayer input. Once your prayer is processed and a Scripture response is delivered, the original prayer content is not saved to any database or retained on our servers.
Additionally, our agreements with all AI service providers explicitly prohibit the use of any data we send for model training purposes. Data retention is disabled across all AI service providers — they do not store or retain the anonymous requests we send. Your prayers are processed in real time and discarded immediately after a response is generated.
5. International data transfers
Depending on your location, submitted content may be processed in secure data centers outside your country. We take appropriate safeguards to ensure compliance with applicable data protection regulations.
6. Transparency
ThyWord uses AI solely to match prayers with Scripture and generate audio. We do not use AI for automated legal, financial, or medical decision-making. AI-generated Scripture matches are intended for spiritual reflection and may not always align perfectly with the user's intent.
