Fromchildhood, I had a small but precious habit.
On my bedside table sat a simple little Bible word box nothing fancy, justfolded slips of paper, each carrying a verse from Bible. Whenever I feltnervous, overwhelmed or unsure, I would reach into that box and pull out averse.
Beforeexams, I would draw one.
Before interviews, I would draw one.
On days when my heart felt heavy for reasons I could not explain, I would drawone.
Thoseverses felt personal, almost as if God Himself was meeting me right where Iwas, speaking exactly what I needed to hear in that moment. That little boxstayed with me through many seasons of my growing years. Then life happened.
Aftermy second child was born, one ordinary day turned unexpectedly emotional. Outof curiosity, my little one opened the bedside nightstand where I had kept thatbox. Tiny hands pulled it out, opened it, and before I realized what washappening, those verses were torn and scattered all over the room. I rememberstanding there, heart sinking.
Itmay seem small to someone else, but to me, those verses had walked with methrough so much. Seeing them torn felt like a piece of myself had been takenaway.
Afterthat day, I never got another Bible word box. Life grew busier.Responsibilities multiplied.
Somewhere along the way, that simple habit of drawing comfort from Bible versesquietly faded. Yet, the need never left.
